The aim of this research is to study the views on the cooperation of kindergarten teachers and parents in the context of modern preschool education. More specifically, the views of parents and kindergarten teachers on the institution of the kindergarten, their views on cooperation between them, on the communication that they develop as well as their views on possible proposals for strengthening and creating collaborative practices are examined.
This research was based, in addition to the relevant literature, on individual interviews with a small sample of parents and kindergarten teachers in public kindergartens in the region of Athens. Two guides with common axes were created to obtain information for comparison. The findings show that parents and kindergarten teachers consider the role of the kindergarten important for the child’s development, but differ in the role and responsibility that each side has in terms of cooperation.
The clarification of the views of the sample reveals the advantages but also the shortcomings of the cooperation between them, so as to highlight possible proposals for improvement, in order to the issue of cooperation acquire a meaningful meaning in preschool education.
