This dissertation investigates how the racial theories that were presented by European theoreticians/scholars in the 19th century were expressed in Greece by Greek scholars in the early 20th century. Specifically, the texts/articles of those Greek scholars in the two literary magazines of the time, Noumas and Letters of Alexandria, is an attempt to investigate how and why they use the term “race” at that time∙ a very difficult period socially, politically and economically for the newly established Greek state. In detail, in this paper is presented a brief depiction of the basic theories of Naturalists of the 19th century, from which derived the theories of theoretical racial theories. Then, the major racial theories that influenced the whole world are also introduced. Finally, it is displayed, the indexing of those articles using the words race and racial theories and especially the Greek race, that is the main issue here.
