Violence and aggression in Early Childhood: Case Study in a Kindergarten in Athens

Violence occurring in education is a part of the wider society in which it lies. The present thesis on “Violence and aggression in Early Childhood: Case Study in a Kindergarten in Athens” was carried out as part of the Joint MA “Education and Human Rights” of the Department of Early Childhood Education (UOA) aiming to examine violence in terms of its social characteristics. The objectives of this thesis is detection, recognition and recording forms of violence met in a Kindergarten. More specifically, the study focuses on the social implications that characterize the phenomenon of violence within the school environment that is the social characteristics of students who exercise and / or accept forms of violence. In this context, the researcher conducted an empirical study on a Public Kindergarten in Athens, during the academic year 2015-2016. This is a qualitative research consisting of field-based observation in a nursery school and semi-structured interviews with two nursery teachers.
